Fundraising for the Art Program at Jeantet Elementary School in Queens
A few weeks ago, Bethany Allard, an art teacher at PS19Q Marino Jeantet Elementary School in Queens, posted on Facebook requesting donations for art supplies. Her students, primarily from low-income and undocumented families, struggle with remote learning due to a lack of resources. PS19Q, a Title I school, serves a predominantly Latino and Asian community, many of whom are undocumented and face severe hardships, especially during the COVID-19 crisis.
The school, located in one of NYC’s hardest-hit neighborhoods, has seen over 3,000 COVID-19 cases. The lack of supplies has impacted students’ ability to complete assignments, affecting their psychological well-being. Recognizing this high need, Linked Security initiated a fundraising campaign to support Bethany’s efforts. They mobilized their network and raised over $2000 through the DonorsChoose website by May 3rd.
Linked Security extends gratitude to key contributors, including Tal Bloch from Bess Construction Services and Target Security in Manhattan. This generous support has made a significant difference in helping the students stay engaged and feel cared for during these challenging times.
