We, at Linked Security NY, take immense pride in our work, which is why we are thrilled to share with you our latest project, an Upper West Side residential building. This ambitious project began in November 2021, when a developer approached us through a recommendation, and tasked us with designing and implementing a state-of-the-art security, network, and A/V system for his new 8-family house in Manhattan. The developer had a clear vision in mind: a building that offered a high level of security, convenience, and simplicity for its occupants. In this blog post, we will take you through the project’s journey, detailing the systems we installed and the incredible results achieved.

The Project Brief:

Our journey began in November 2021 when the developer approached us based on a recommendation. Tasked with designing and installing systems for a new 8-family residential building, we were excited to get started. The developer’s main focus was on security, convenience, and simplicity for his family and potential tenants.

Project Timeline:

We commenced work on this exciting project in January 2022, and after a year of hard work, innovation, and some modifications, we completed the project in January 2023. The following systems were included in our scope of work:

Doorbird Smart Video Intercom:

At the front door, we installed a Doorbird smart video intercom, which allows seamless communication between the front door and the tenants’ mobile devices using a user-friendly app. With features such as remote door access and video call logs, Doorbird offers a stylish and practical solution to secure entry management.

Brivo Cloud-Based Access Control System:

The Brivo access control system enables users to unlock common area doors and their apartment doors using either a fob or their mobile phone. With Brivo, building administrators can manage access levels, ensuring that only authorized individuals can access certain areas of the building. We chose Brivo for its reliability and efficiency.

Robust Network and Central Wi-Fi System:

In today’s connected world, a strong network infrastructure is crucial. We designed a powerful network system using Ubiquity’s Unifi line of products to provide reliable internet connectivity to the building’s systems and its tenants. The common Wi-Fi not only allows tenants to interact with the building’s systems but also serves as a backup connection in case of individual internet service failures.

Digital Watchdog Security Cameras:

To enhance the building’s security, we installed a Digital Watchdog security camera system with five cameras covering both outdoor and indoor areas. Security cameras not only deter criminals and assist in incident investigations, but they also help reduce insurance costs and liability.

Sonos Systems for Common Spaces and Apartments:

We installed Sonos systems to deliver exceptional sound quality throughout the building. With in-wall and in-ceiling speakers and strategically positioned amplifiers, tenants can enjoy a seamless listening experience, controlling music in different rooms and outdoor spaces right from their mobile phones.

iPad Controllers for Apartment Automation:

To enable easy control of the smart systems, we installed Apple iPads in each apartment. These versatile devices allow tenants to view security camera footage, control their Sonos systems, and receive calls from the front door intercom, all with the sleek and powerful design that Apple is known for.

Conclusion:

The project’s success can be seen in the photos, but the real satisfaction came when we did a walkthrough with the moving-in family. Their excitement was palpable as we demonstrated the systems and their capabilities. From the initial wire-pulling to the final installation of network faceplates, we strived for perfection and achieved it.
